Wudhu (ablution) the Important Factor of Performing Prayer

Muslims perform prayer (Salah) five times a day. They used to clean their body before standing in front of Allah. Wudhu (ablution) is the procedure to clean the parts of the body properly. Muslims believe it is their primary duty to perform wudhu (ablution) before performing Salah. Wudu (ablution) contains proper steps which should be followed to achieve the real benefit of it. In this Article we are going to discuss the steps of wudu and their benefits.

Allah's Messenger Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said, "The prayer of a person who does Hadath (passes urine, stool or wind) is not accepted till he performs the ablution." A person from Hadaramout asked Abu Huraira, "What is 'Hadath'?" Abu Huraira replied, " 'Hadath' means the passing of wind."  (Sahih al-Bukhari 135 Book 4, Hadith 1 Vol. 1, Book 4, Hadith 137).

The above hadith describe the key factors which terminate or abandon wudu (ablution). Muslims try to avoid these things to keep their wudu intact. Performing wudhu before Salah is very much important to purify yourself physically as well as spiritually.

Four Important Steps (Fard) of Wudu

In Holy Quran the word wudu is not mentioned but the steps of purifying the body before Salah are mentioned comprehensively.

"O you who believe, when you rise to observe the Salah, you shall wash your faces and your arms to the elbows, and wipe your heads and your feet to the ankles." Surah al-Ma"idah (Quran 5:6).

According to the verses of Quran there are four important steps of performing wudu which includes washing of face, arms to the elbows, wipe your heads and then washing the feet to the ankles. Below I have elaborated the four important steps of performing wudu.

Wash Your Face

First part to wash is the face which includes mouth nose and eyes. Water should reach every part of face so that it can be refreshed.

Wash Arms to the Elbows

Second organ which need to be clean is the arms which should be wet from fingers down to the elbows. Repeat this step three times which is Sunnah of Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H).

Wipe the Head

Third important part which needs to be washed is the head which includes forehead along with washing of neck which is called ‘Masah’.

Wash Feet with Ankles

Last but not least part of wudu is washing the feet to the ankles. Start with your right feet and then to the left using the left hand.

Benefits of performing Wudhu (ablution)

There are countless benefits of performing wudu as it includes washing with the pure water. There are many religious benefits of performing wudu like hadith states,

“A person who sleeps in a state of ablution is similar to someone who worships in a state of fasting” (Kanzul-Amaal, V9 P123, Hadith 25994)

Scientifically it is proven that performing wudu regularly decreases the attack of different bacteria’s which causes harmful diseases. It is natural that if a person washes his body parts regularly find himself healthy and active.

Conclusion

Performing wudu is not only beneficial for the Muslim but anyone who performs wudu can enjoy its benefits. There are many applications available on android but I suggest you to download free ‘Kids Wudu Series’ forAndroid Users which is comprehensively describe the steps of performing Wudhu.
